Are you early in your prep?
You may be thinking I’ve got this in the bag. However, you should also realize the usual 300-hour recommendation doesn’t apply to every CFA Candidate.
Do you exercise four hours a week? Do you enjoy watching Monday Night Football? Do you have to take your kids to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions or can think of something else in your life that is a limiting factor to your time spent studying, the 586 hours starts to dwindle away. There is one other major factor we haven’t discussed yet. Time spent studying and retention.
I’ve coined this term potato brain.
The typical student’s efficiency drops off significantly after about 25 minutes.
For an untrained study brain, a solid three hours of productive studying and breaks to reset would take about 4.5 hours. 586 hours / 1.5 “retention regeneration” = 391 hours of studying…
Have you been dedicating that to your quest? If not, then all those other life activities better be put on the shelf.
